This year, Patrice Scott's Sistrum Recordings label will be 20 years old. We're not sure whether he's planning any special celebratory releases, but 'My Desire' - his first new material of 2026 - is a good way to begin a big 12 months for the producer and imprint. In its original form (side A), the track is a fine example of 21st century Motor City deep house funk - all cascading, intergalactic synth solos, squelchy P-funk bass, dusty drums and warming chords. He opts for a smoother and more traditional Beatdown-influenced deep house sound on the flipside 'Uptown mix' take, combining a heady, metronomic groove with plenty of ear-pleasing chords and synth motifs.
