The Ethiopiques reissue series is excellent and we recommend you buy them all - but if your budget doesn't stretch to 21 CDs and counting then this is the album for you! A SUPERB double disc set showcasing the very best tracks from across the entire Ethiopiques series - this is an essential introduction to a world of amazing music! Collects the cream of late sixties and early seventies Ethiopian jazz, funk, and traditional blues - recorded in the dying years of Emperor Haile Sellaisse I among the first stirrings of a brutal military dictatorship: Ethiopian music would never sound the same again. Super-deep African rootsy jazz and funk with a middle-eastern vibe - we really can't recommend this incredible music enough! Check it out!
