As founder member and leader of UK reggae pioneers Matumbi, Dennis Bovell is truly part of UK reggae royalty. Formed in the early 70's, Matumbi and Bovell quickly installed themselves at the front of the UK scene, and during his time with Matumbi, but under the guise of the 4th Street Orchestra, he recorded four classic soundsystem albums. He intended these to appear as Jamaican imports, a trick he pulled off with ease. This particular two-albums-on-one-CD includes "Ah Who Seh? Go Deh!" and "Leggo! Ah-Fi-We-Dis", the first two 4th St Orchestra albums recorded. When these albums exploded at the back end of the 1970s they made their mark instantly. Loved equally by the small house party sized system crews and the bigger sound men the albums simply worked balancing the authenticity required by soundsystem tunes with the commerciality so as not to leave the prospective album buyers running for cover.
