This is the third LP in HoS's highly regarded series of Texas soul albums, with the timeframe moving onto 1966. By this time, soul, in all its forms was the dominant force in Afro-American music, outselling all previous genres of R & B. Texas was one of the few areas where the old styles of music were still strong and this album showcases the way that the fascinating battle between old and new were being played out.
