Naarm-based trumpeter and composer Liam McGorry steps into the spotlight with Temporary Blessings, a new project steeped in cinematic soul and 60s European soundtrack tradition. Joined by members of Surprise Chef, Karate Boogaloo and Saskwatch, McGorry channels film noir and giallo atmospheres into tightly orchestrated grooves. 'Goblin Mode' opens with prowling bass and tense brass while 'Fata Morgana' drifts through hazy strings and muted trumpet. 'Solitary Islands Theme' and 'Delon' nod to French lounge and Italian drama - each played with effortless precision. Produced by Henry Jenkins and tracked live in one room, the record captures Melbourne's finest in conversation. It's tough, tender and beautifully restrained. McGorry proves that collaboration remains his greatest strength.
