Monyaka (Swahili for ‘good luck’) are a six-piece, Jamaica-born reggae act, based in Brooklyn, NY originally founded in 1974

1982 they released the album Reggaenomics on Easy Street record label

Includes the UK hit ‘Go Deh Yaka’ (patois for ‘Go To The Top) and reached #14 in the UK charts. It cleverly fused reggae and contemporary R&B. The album also features the first single ‘Stand Up Strong’ includes lyric inner sleeve.
