This was among the last of Coltrane's Prestige albums to be issued. The saxophonist had stockpiled enough material for the label during his two year contract (the canny Bob Weinstock knew how to make a single session go a long way - witness his handling of Gene Ammons - and must have been delighted when his one-time signing made it big) and so his old label were still able to issue an album of "new" Coltrane every year up until 1965.
