Dougie Wardrop's Conscious Sounds label was a pioneering label in the story of what is generally known as the UK Roots / Dub scene. Emerging from the ranks of the serious dub enthusiasts that gathered around the late, great Jah Shaka's epic sessions in London during the mid to late eighties. Conscious Sounds first release was Stepping Time by Centry in 1990.
Now, thirty-five years on, Dougie has compiled this album to showcase four of the brightest next generation UK dub and roots artists; Ital Mick who with his brother Ital Shash operates the mighty Ital Power sound system, Henry Skeng, Lorenzo and Gully Roots, all of whom are young and enthusiastic and have been working with Dougie at Conscious Sounds on projects of their own.
