Group Modular continue to refine their retro-futurist vision with this new double-sider while also revealing a fascination with geometry, urbanism and the slow erosion of modernist ideals. 'Hecker' unfolds in cyclical repetitions that bring to mind a city constantly under construction, which, let's face it, is pretty much how all modern cities are these days, with muted neon lights and dystopian dream off in the distance. On the flip, 'Sharon' slows the pace while conjuring early-80s library textures and using them to sketch a melancholic nocturnal landscape. Together, they make for a weird mix of future nostalgia for a place you've not yet been.
