Based in Brooklyn, Morris draws on a mix of soul, doo-wop, and vintage Jamaican styles, filtered through analog gear and unpolished vocal takes. The track features Ray Jacildo (Jr. Thomas & the Volcanos) on organ and piano, grounding the rhythm in a tone that links Kingston and Bushwick without overstating the connection.
Her phrasing is spare and deliberate, with the title line repeated in short, hook-like bursts. The mix leaves space for background noise and timing shifts, reflecting the track’s origin in a hybrid recording process split between her Brooklyn apartment and Portage Studios in Ohio.
“Flat Tire” is one of ten tracks on Next (out 19 September via Colemine Records/Karma Chief), a board-game-inspired concept album built around fictional characters and mapped like a block-by-block journey through personal and musical terrain.
