Joaquin 'Joe' Claussell is back on the Spring Revisited series, and you'd expect nothing less than another inspired reimagining from the New York house master. Getting straight down to business on the A-side, his 'Sacred Rhythm Version' lifts the Fatback Band original into a richly percussive house excursion, looping the irresistible funk groove whilst weaving in radiant synth improvisations and flashes of triumphant brass. On the flip, the mood turns decidedly smokier as the 'Spanish Harlem Dub' retreats into deeper waters, where a languid bassline intertwines with gently weathered organ chords, giving the groove a wonderfully unhurried gravitas.
