Dhafer Youssef is a Tunisian Oud player, vocalist and composer born in 1967 in Teboulba. The son of a modest family from this Tunisian Centre-Eastern fishing village, he comes from a long line of muezzins. Mastering vocal performances is to him a heritage and a family tradition. Following the outstanding success of his album Birds Requiem, the great Oud master and consummate vocalist Dhafer Youssef returns.

After dedicating himself most successfully to the fusion of oriental sounds and urban nu-jazz on his last album 'Divan Of Beauty And Odd', he returns to his traditional roots on his new masterpiece. Together with the Turkish clarinetist Husnu Senlendirici, the Norwegian guitarist Eivind Aarset as well as the Indian tabla player Zakir Hussain. Recorded and mixed in Mumbai, Istanbul and Gothenburg, The Sound Of Mirrors is an ode to friendship and fraternity; a fascinating musical work full of meditative beauty, tonal splendor of colour and fascinating harmonies.
