This is the third and final volume of the trilogy dedicated to Delroy Wilson – released on the 30th anniversary of his death.
Delroy Wilson needs no introduction. He began his career at the age of 13 and spanned all phases of Jamaican music, from Ska and Rocksteady to Reggae and Rub-a-Dub. After working primarily with Coxsone Dodd (Studio 1) until the late 1960s, he began collaborating with numerous Jamaican producers. Rodguel Sinclair met Delroy Wilson through his mentor, Bunny Lee, in the mid-1970s. Their collaboration lasted over a decade and produced three albums and nearly a dozen singles.
For this third installment, we decided to focus on the B-sides of these singles and maxi-singles, selecting around ten dubs and other versions, including two previously unreleased tracks straight from the Blackbeard archives. Recorded and mixed in the second half of the 1970s, these ten tracks were primarily produced at Harry J and King Tubby's studios, featuring the well-known figures Scientist, Prince Jammy, and King Tubby himself.
We have maintained the track listing of the first vinyl album, starting with Sunshine, the dub version of There Is No Sunshine (released on the Hulk label), followed by the very rare I'm Yours In Dub (released on a maxi-single on the Clintones label). Next up is a version of "Can't Stop Me," featuring Dillinger's inimitable flow (Big Phil 1978), followed by versions of "Talk Too Much," "You're Mine," and "Prophecy" (Hulk). Then it's over to Prince Jammy, who delivers the dub version of "Good My People" (Sonic Sounds), followed by a previously unreleased dub of "Kiss & Say Goodbye" (Dub & Say Goodbye). We return with two more dub versions of "Can't Stop Me" and "There Is No Sunshine" to close out the album.
Ten dubs and versions to discover Delroy Wilson and Blackbeard's productions from a new perspective: a fresh take fueled by delay, reverb, and other effects. Dub it!
