    Come and join us for the opening night re-release screening of the seminal civil rights meets black action film In The Heat of The Night (1967) starring Sidney Poitier.

    Tickets include free entry to Soul Jazz Records DJs spinning tunes after the film up until 11pm. The film is introduced by Stuart Baker, head of Soul Jazz Records. 


    Set in small town southern USA, Sidney Poitier subverts all notions of southern racial bigotry as the sophisticated African-American policeman from Philadelphia. Filmed in 1967, just 4 years after the KKK bombing of a black church in Alabama, 3 years after the Civil Rights Act, 2 years after the assassination of Malcolm X, 1 year before the assassination of Martin Luther King.
