This is an incredibly lavishly packaged double disc compilation of Nigerian music from the early and mid 1970s that comes with beautiful artwork, extensive sleevenotes and pictures and scans of original label art! Highlife, Afro-beat, Rock, Jazz, & Native Blues were produced at an unprecedented rate in the 1970s and these diverse styles rubbed shoulders as new styles met old styles and resulted in exciting and unlikely fusions! Nigeria experienced newfound national confidence in this period following the near break-up of the nation in the aftermath of the Biafran war, and the forward-looking spirit of the times shines through this incredible music! This is a truly amazing package featuring 26 tracks of previously unreissued music and has to count as one of the most exciting Sound Way releases to date! Available as a two CD pack or as two separate double vinyl gatefold volumes! Highly recommended!
