SOLD OUT!
Unique Art + Sound hand-etched 300 copies 180gm vinyl limited 12” art-piece/music single from Hieroglyphic Being/2Yang.
This is the first release on the new Sounds of the Universe label, launched by Soul Jazz Records.
Hieroglyphic Being is one of many names for Jamal Moss, the influential producer operating on the Chicago electronic music fringe for more than 20 years.
Moss takes influence from Chicago’s musical heritage - from mentors like Adonis, to the spiritual esotericism and other-worldly harmonies of Sun Ra (resident in the city 1945-61) and the experimental acid of another local legend Larry Heard.
‘Shikaakwa’ is the native American name for Chicago. Mind-blowing, deep and joyful unclassifiable music, taking a thumping tape-crunched drum track programmed with a molecular attention to detail through a 9-minute tour of cosmic, cascading high-frequency synthesis and free-form melody.
2Yang aka Yoshi Tsuyama is the name of anarchic illustrator, graffiti artist, designer and sculptor living and working in Osaka, Japan.
This single consists of the new Hieroglyphic Being track on one side of the disc and accompanying graphic vinyl-etching by 2Yang on the other side.
The release is limited to just 300 copies worldwide, each hand-numbered, and sold exclusively from the Sounds Of The Universe shop and the Sounds of the Universe/Soul Jazz Records websites
