Violetshaped is a collaboration between the enigmatic Violet Poison and Berlin-based artist Shapednoise. “Violetshaped Remixes Part 1” is the first of a remixes series divided into several parts. This first instalment features remixes from Roly Porter (formerly of Vex’d) following on from his acclaimed debut album for the Subtext label, Vatican Shadow - aka Dominick Fernow, owner of the Hospital Productions and Bed of Nails labels, and Kangding Ray of Raster Noton fame. Traversing the A-side, former Vex’d soundbwoy Roly Porter water-boards ‘The Lord Won’t Forget’, slowly depriving it of oxygen but keeping the subbass pulse-rate ticking over, giving him enough flesh time to electrocute it with spasmodic concrète jolts until a blanket of white noise signals the end. Flipside, Dominick Fernow offers one of his deadliest Vatican Shadow productions to date, a remix of ‘Delusory Parasitosis’ tattooing your ear drum with drum work almost approaching Cut Hands levels of focussed ferocity, coupled with soaring goth trance synths. Kangding Ray rounds out with a grungy, pendulous re-carve of ‘The Oven’
