My Brother's Wedding (1983) A Film By Charles Burnett

    BFI

Low budget, tragicomic drama from acclaimed African-American director Charles Burnett. Set in South Central LA, the story focuses on Pierce Mundy (Everett Silas), a young man at a crossroads in life. Caught between his hard-working family, his aspirational lawyer brother, and his criminally-minded friends, Pierce has a hard time figuring out the correct choices to make.

The film is a wry, warm take on black ghetto life in the early 1980s, and appears here both in its original form and the 2007 director's cut.
