Its juxtapositions are, to me, distinctly Northwestern: it is both alive and synthetic; homespun in execution, yet cinematic in aspiration; acknowledges global experimentalism of the time, yet reveals some isolation in its curious re-wiring of genre standards; 'grayscalein' mood, but with an underpinning of hopefulness that, for me, recalls the futurism of the time.”
