Album from Junior Dan aka Left hand Bassie aka Sydney Gussine for his own Hi-Try label. Dan’s music is gentle and musically decorative with unusual touches from a variety of instruments including the bazuki, ukelele, melodica, glockenspiel and something called a krar. His lyrical themes are strictly old school Rasta; love, peace and unity. You may recall Dan from the handful of classic roots tracks he recorded back in the late seventies including Look Out For The Devil and East Of The Rio Cobre and the fine KTW Dub album. A busy session player during those times, most notably perhaps for Augustus Pablo, his own music carries much of that long lost 12 Tribes mystical vibe that he has somehow carried forward into these times with this album. Recorded at his own Jah Light Studio and mixed at Damon Albarn’s Gorillaz Studio 13 – he was a member of Albarn’s hugely successful cartoon band. Completely original, with no concession to contemporary reggae music of any stripe.
