Soul Jazz Records presents a rare screening of this lost classic film ‘Dingo’ (1991) starring the legendary Miles Davis. Davis is stunning in his only ever film role performance playing an inspirational jazz musician (essentially himself!)!

In this independently made Australian film Miles Davis plays ‘Billy Cross,’ a famous African-American jazz musician living in Paris and ‘Dingo’ is a young Australian who plays music based on the sounds of the Australian outback.

When Dingo was a child he watches a plane land in the Australian outback to refuel. Trumpeter Billy Cross steps off the plane and his band perform live on the runway until the plane is ready to leave. Now Dingo is grown up and a musician himself and dreams of meeting Billy Cross (Miles Davis) again.

In the film Dingo’s dreams come true - he travels to Paris to meet his idol, stays in his house, performs on stage with him before returning home.

Aside from the amazing presence of Miles Davis throughout the film, there is also Davis’ amazing soundtrack written with orchestral composer Michel Legrand made especially for the film, in what would be Miles Davis’ second-to-last ever musical recording (one year before his final album Doo-Bop).

Dingo is a truly uplifting and joyous film with an awesome musical soundtrack! Miles Davis died before the film was ever released and this remains his last testament on film.

Stuart Baker (Soul Jazz Records) will introduce the film and Soul Jazz Records will be playing music in the bar before and after the screening.

'A must-see film. Miles Davis is magnetic" The Guardian
